Detail | Information |
|---|
Distance | About 223 km (depends on your pickup and drop) |
Travel time | 5 to 6 hours, more on weekends and festival days |
Highway | Delhi–Meerut Expressway, then NH-334 |
Route | Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee, Haridwar |
Toll tax | Included in your fare |

The expressway gets you out of Delhi and past Meerut quickly, and the rest of the drive on NH-334 is smooth for most of the way. The slowest parts are usually the city stretches near Roorkee and the last few kilometres into Haridwar, where traffic builds up near the ghats.
If you want to catch the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, leave Delhi by noon. Weekends, Ganga Dussehra and big snan days bring heavy crowds, so plan extra time. During the Kanwar Yatra in the monsoon month of Sawan, the highway sees large crowds and traffic diversions, so check with us before you book for those dates.
Food and Rest Stops on the Way
Meerut (around 75 km from Delhi): Good for a quick breakfast or tea.
Khatauli and Muzaffarnagar (around 110 to 130 km): The main halfway stop, with popular highway restaurants like Cheetal Grand.
Roorkee (around 180 km): A short break before the last stretch into Haridwar.
One meal stop is normal on this route and costs nothing extra. If you want a longer break, just tell us when you book.

Which Cab Should You Book?
Sedan (Swift Dzire, Aura, Amaze or Xcent): Good for up to 4 people with 3 bags. It's the most affordable way to make this trip, and works well for couples and small families.
SUV (Ertiga, Marazzo, XL6 or Rumion): Six seats and room for 6 bags. A good fit for families travelling with elders, or anyone carrying puja items and extra luggage.
SUV Prime (Kia Carens, Innova Crysta or Innova Hybrid): Seven seats, space for 7 bags and a smoother ride. On this route it costs only a little more than an SUV, so it's a good pick if you're going on to Rishikesh or the hills.
Tempo Traveller: For family groups, yatra groups and larger parties. Call us for a quote, and book early for festival dates.
One-Way or Round Trip?
Book one way if you're staying in Haridwar for a while or travelling onward to Rishikesh or the Char Dham route. You pay only for the drive there, not for the cab's empty return.
Book a round trip if you're coming back to Delhi the same day or after a short stay. The same cab and driver stay with you for the ghats, temples and local travel around Haridwar. The round-trip fare covers 446 km and already includes the driver allowance.
Going Further From Haridwar?
Many travellers on this route have plans beyond Haridwar. You can keep the same cab and skip the change.

Places to Visit in Haridwar
Haridwar sits on the banks of the Ganga, where the river leaves the hills and enters the plains. It's one of the seven holy cities for Hindus, and most of its main temples and ghats are close to each other.
Place | Where | Why go |
|---|
Har Ki Pauri | City centre, on the Ganga | The main ghat for a holy dip and the evening Ganga Aarti |
Mansa Devi Temple | Bilwa Parvat, above Har Ki Pauri | Hilltop temple reached by ropeway or a walking path |
Chandi Devi Temple | Neel Parvat, across the river | Hilltop temple with its own ropeway and wide views of the city |
Maya Devi Temple | Near Har Ki Pauri | One of the oldest temples in Haridwar |
Bharat Mata Mandir | Saptrishi area | A multi-storey temple dedicated to Mother India |
Shantikunj | On the Rishikesh road | A large ashram known for its spiritual programmes |
If you have only an evening, go straight to Har Ki Pauri for the Ganga Aarti and reach early to get a good spot on the ghat. With a full day, visit Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi by ropeway in the morning, then Maya Devi and Bharat Mata Mandir before the evening Aarti.
